THE LEGACY CONTEMPORARY EXPERIENCE

The Legacy Contemporary Experience (TLCE) is an extended progamme of Legacy Dance Co's premier dance programme, The Legacy Experience.

This 4.5-5 year-long programme is catered to new or experienced dancers who are interested in contemporary dance. It is also for those who may have pursued ballet, jazz or modern dance in your younger years and hope to continue in its path. Grow alongside others with instructors who closely monitor your progress~ Welcome to the family!

A1 and A1 Advanced will be starting in September 2023. A2 and A2 Advanced classes will be starting in January 2023.

A1 is suitable for those with no prior dance experience or for those with some dance experience but who have not explored Contemporary before.

A1 advanced will be similar to A1 in terms of content but the pace of the class will be faster.

A2 is suitable for those who have completed A1 and have at least 6 months of dance experience in contemporary or have had some foundational training. Techniques will be slightly more challenging.

A2 advanced will be similar to A1 in terms of content but the pace of the class will be faster.

CONTEMPORARY FACULTY

  • Cara

    At 8 years old, Cara began her dance training with the Commonwealth Society of Teachers of Dancing (CSTD) Ballet. Upon completion of the CSTD syllabus in Ballet, she dived into contemporary and hiphop training with Clarice Ng and An An respectively as she aimed to achieve versatility and excellence in dance. A few of her notable accolades during her competitive dance career includes clinching 1st in both The Royal Dance Off Chapter 4 with her crew, Scarlett and Super 24 2018 with her alumni dance club, The Passionate Dancing Elders, 2nd in Arena Singapore 2019 with Baseline and Top 4 in All Babes Cineleisure Dance Competition and Mediacorp’s The Dance Floor with Scarlett. Through the years, her dance style has evolved and now garners great influence and inspiration from Dana Foglia and Jose ‘Boy Boi’ whom she has been trained under in Singapore and Los Angeles, USA.

    Cara attributes her current progress to various individuals who have believed in her and have provided opportunities guiding her towards where she is now. With that, she desires to provide the same or more support, using her knowledge gained to inspire and guide students towards achieving their dance goals. She also believes that teaching dance is more than helping one to become a better dancer, it is imparting the right values to be a better person as well.

  • Charmain

    Charmain has always enjoyed movement and started dancing with ballet at the age of 5. Her love for dance grew and pushed her to get a BA(Hons) Degree in Dance at LASALLE College of the Arts, proudly obtaining First Class Honors.

    Charmain is versatile and skilled in many genres such as contemporary dance, jazz, classical Indian, modern dance and street dance. Her dream has always been to perform on different stages and this has come to pass, having been in the commercial scene in Singapore for many years. Her stage experience include performing for local artists like Siti Nurhaliza, Shiek Haikel, The Sam Williows, Benjamin Kheng, Taufik Batisah, and in productions such as Universal Studios Singapore, Gateway Theatre Celebration of Life Tour in both 2018 and 2019, and TROPICANA the musical, among others. A more recent accomplishment is her involvement in the upcoming production “KUMAR XXX 2022” held at Capitol Theatre.

    She has also competed in a few competitions such as The Remix Dance showcase competition 2020 and Super24 2022, clinching 1st place and Top 5 respectively.

    Charmain Is currently a freelance performer, Lecturer in LASALLE College of the arts and choreographer.

    Backed by years of varied experiences, she would like to share her love of dance and performing with the next generation, hoping to spread the passion while nurturing and supporting others in their own dance journeys.

  • Chelsea

    Chelsea began her dance journey began at the age of 7, beginning with ballet under the tutelage of Ms Sandra Ho, followed by jazz and swing under Sinclair Ang, modern and contemporary dance under Zaki Ahmad, and waacking under Amin Alifin. Notable achievements in her competitive dance career include multiple championship titles in the All Babes Cineleisure Dance competition in Singapore, and clinching third in the World Finals for the United Dance Organisation (UDO) Glasgow competition in August of 2018 with her crew, The Débutante.

    Chelsea believes dance is her gift, through which she has learned more than skill and technique, and treasures it's affect on self-love and love for others. Come train and explore contemporary dance with her!

  • Joelynn

    Joelynn started dancing at age of 13 and has been trained under Xu Jie, Peter Teo, Ryan Tan, Clarice Ng, Jeffrey Tan and Lin Xiaolin. She was a part of the TRDO community and associates from 2016 before joining the first company in 2017 and has been involved in numerous performances under their wing. She has also dabbled in Hiphop and Street Jazz and has been exposed to gymnastics and Breaking, allowing her to explore a more athletic and acrobatic style. Joelynn has clinched awards in various local competitions, performed choreographic work for overseas instructors, and has played both roles of choreographer and performer for multiple productions. Additionally, she completed her yoga teachers training in 2021.

    Joelynn has been given multiple opportunities to teach and assist, allowing her to harness her creativity, carefully curate lessons, and create meaningful experiences for others. She believes in sharing the hope, love, and vulnerability that dance as a language can help to express, together with the physicality and artistry only dance can offer. You can be sure she will provide a safe space for her students to try and fail and try again!
